Savage Lands Make Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz the “Ruling Queen” in New Single

0

After spending so much time raising money to secure and preserve precious rainforest, Savage Lands is releasing its debut full-length album this weekend. With some songs already out in the wild, the group founded by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and featuring Sylvain Dermercastel saw it fit to release their newest single featuring Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz and Obituary guitarist Kenneth Andrews titled “Ruling Queen”.

The song, which you can check out below, is the latest effort from the band to use metal music to make an environmental impact for the better. As just one of the 10 songs featured in the album, this is the latest and final one to drop prior to the album’s release. For White-Gluz, the idea of using art to benefit the planet spoke to her on a personal level, which is what drove her to accept the invitation to lend her voice to the track.

“Art and activism converge in a space of meaning, and that is where I choose to stand. Metalheads have always been powerful and passionate people in my eyes. I hold deep gratitude for Savage Lands and their relentless work in safeguarding the fragile beauty of Costa Rica’s ecosystem.”

The band is an offshoot of Verbeuren’s 501(c)3 non-profit of the same name that was established in 2022 to raise money for reforestation efforts. With only a handful of singles released so far, they’ve done a lot of good, having used the proceeds from their debut single “The Last Howl” to save a chunk of rainforest in Costa Rica. Last year, they scored a €1,000,000 donation from Hellfest to contribute to their efforts, while Heilung donated $1 from each ticket they sold during their most recent U.S. tour to the cause as well.

Other metal artists featured in the album include:

  • Kai Uwe Faust – Vocals (Heilung)
  • Chloe Trujillo – Vocals
  • Alissa White-Gluz – Vocals (Arch Enemy)
  • Kenneth Andrews – Guitar (Obituary)
  • Andreas Kisser – Guitar (Sepultura)
  • John Tardy – Vocals (Obituary)
  • Maria Franz – Vocals (Heilung)
  • Lord Of The Lost – Vocals, Guitars (Out of Breath)

Pre-orders of Army of the Trees are already up at Season of Mist, with the vinyl copies being on BioVinyl, a non-fossil record material that’s better for the environment. The Season of Mist site promises that 100% of royalties for the album go to support reforestation.
