Saetia Release Second New Single in Decades Called “Three Faces Past”
Ya know, people may talk a lot of (somewhat understandable) shit, but screamo really is the most metal part of emo. I’ll stand on that. One of the legends in the genre, New York’s Saetia, disappeared from the limelight decades ago to really make all of us fans fuckin cry, but they’ve recently made a return to make us smile. Not only did they join The Blood Brothers on one of the New York dates of their reunion tour, but they’re coming out with an EP in April called Tendrils. They released the title track from it last month and they’ve just shared another one called “Three Faces Past.” Listen to both of them below.
The band said this about “Three Faces Past”:
“‘Three Faces Past’” is the second song from the Tendrils EP, and is available now on Bandcamp and all streaming services.
“Unthinkable trauma reverberates through generations of an immediate family. It transforms transfigures and transcends the way we interact with the world the way we recognize who we are and who we can be. It may be evergreen but it doesnt need to poison everything. We have opportunities to recognize realize and reorder ourselves to meet the most important moments. To those struggling we see you and we know you.
“Thanks to everyone who’s already checked out the song and for all of the kind messages. We really appreciate it.”
Billy, Adam, Colin, Steve & Tom
When they released “Tendrils,” they went into a little bit of detail about what brought them back in the first place:
“Today we get to share new music with you for the first time in 26 years.
“Tendrils” is the first song from a three song EP of the same name, and is available now on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms.
“Back in December of 2023 Colin shared an idea that he wrote on bass. We weren’t really serious about working on new music up until that point, but the five of us slowly started building on that original idea. Through lots of file sharing, trips to Philly and different rehearsal spaces around the United States over the past year, we were able to write and record these three songs.
“We are releasing this music ourselves just as we did with our demo in 1997. We’ve pressed 1,000 copies on black vinyl (one sided 12”), which are available NOW for pre-order via @deathwishinc and @deathwisheurope (link in bio). Not sure if or when we’ll do a second pressing of this, so we suggest grabbing one if you’re interested. These will ship sometime at the end of April.
“We will also have very special, limited versions of the EP with alternate covers and colored vinyl at our NYC & LA record release shows. More details on that this Monday.
