Curses Drop Drummer and Go on Indefinite Hiatus
Another day, another bit of band mess. It looks like West Virginia metalcore band Curses are the next to be… cursed? They’ve ditched their drummer Tyrsson Demarest with the quickness and have also announced an indefinite hiatus. They haven’t shared what caused the breakup, but damn do I hate when bands get divorced like this. The only little bit of tea they spilled cited “an untenable situation brought about by personal conflict within the band” as being the reason.
The band said this in an Instagram post:
“Effective immediately, Tyrsson Demarest is no longer associated with Curses. We ask that everyone please respect our privacy regarding this matter.
“That being said, due to an untenable situation brought about by personal conflict within the band, we have decided it’s best to put Curses on an indefinite hiatus. We will be releasing one final song in the coming weeks.
“We’d like to thank everyone for all the time spent, the moments shared, and the memories made together. It really isn’t possible to fully express how much this has meant to us over the years.
“We will always cherish what you’ve given us.”
Demarest released a statement of his own in an Instagram story, which gave absolutely no more information about why it all happened in the first place:
“As you all have seen, I am no longer associated with Curses, with no fault of my own. As stated previously, please respect each individual’s privacy regarding the matter.
“Thank you to everyone involved over the last couple of years. I had a wonderful time filled with great memories.”
I don’t know why but I get the feeling something like, big happened. I hope they’re all able to work it out, but good grief.
