Dillinger Escape Plan Extend Calculating Infinity Anniversary Celebration into an Australian Tour

0

The announcement in 2023 that Dillinger Escape Plan were reuniting wasn’t that much of a surprise. I mean, when the band broke up in 2017, it hardly seemed like it was going to be forever. A Dillinger Escape Plan reunion seemed more of a matter of when it would happen, not if it would ever happen. What was far more surprising was that the reunion ended up being with original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, as opposed to Greg Puciato who had been vocalist at the time of the break up. But then, the first reunion show was originally intended to be a one-off celebration of the band’s 1999 debut album Calculating Infinity, which was the only LP to feature Minakakis on vocals. So it kind of did make some sense, and it wasn’t expected to last long anyway.

But then they added another Calculating Infinity anniversary show with Minakakis. And then another. And it kept going like that, another show here, another festival there, always seemingly just a temporary extension of a one-off lark for a special anniversary. But, little by little, the whole thing just keeps going and going and going. Now, in yet another unexpected development, the Minakakis reunion seems to be extending into an entire Australian tour. It seems like they just like playing shows with Minakakis.

The band announced the Australian tour yesterday on social media, stating:

“It has been 8 years since the D.E.P. has been down-unda. I’d say it’s about time to take that long journey into the future again. This time, we will be performing our debut album, Calculating Infinity, in its entirety with our original singer. This will be our only shows in the country, so dont hesitate for tickets.”
