The recent interview from the Grammys where Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante was mistakenly interviewed by someone who thought she was Poppy was absolutely hilarious at the time considering that LaPlante perfectly played if off and pretended to be Poppy. It was the kind of thing that is funny for an immediate moment and so, naturally, everyone has to milk the joke until it eventually stops being funny anymore. The joke hasn’t quite been beaten to death yet, but you can feel it’s about to be fairly soon. So, as long as the joke is still funny, Poppy herself got in on the action with a new t-shirt that allows us all to be Poppy now.
Poppy released a new t-shirt that’s just a black shirt with a nametag on it saying “I am Poppy.” Now, granted, the t-shirt already fits in with the artist’s brand as her website is literally impoppy.com and her Instagram handle is @impoppy. But the timing of the t-shirt release seems to be an opportunity to capitalize on the joke, especially considering the Facebook post she made about the new shirt that said:
“we are all poppy”
The t-shirt seems to be the closest thing to a statement that we’ve gotten from Poppy commenting on the incident at the Grammys, so it’s good to see that she has a sense of humor about things.
Meanwhile, Poppy’s “They’re All Around Us” tour is kicking off next month, so you can wear your shirt and confuse any media covering the event.
