Red Fang to Release a Huge Collection of B-Sides and Rarities, “It’s Always There” Streaming Now

This year turns out to be the 20th anniversary of Oregon-based stoner metal outfit Red Fang. As such, we’re sure to see some exciting, nostalgia-fueled things coming from these guys — the first of which being a huge 26-song collection of rarities, b-sides, covers, and other stuff announced earlier today.

Aptly titled Deep Cuts, this collection will include some truly unexpected pieces of music, including songs they wrote for a Scion compilation, the Adult Swim Singles Series, and their mobile game Red Fang: Headbang!

Red Fang guitarist and vocalist Bryan Giles said hearing the song they released today, “It’s Always There”, for the first time in years reminded him of where he was when the song was being written.

“If to mind. When I lived in San Diego, I became friendly with Pall Jenkins, and was always a fan of Three Mile Pilot and The Black Heart Procession, so it was exciting for me to enlist his help bringing the song to life. I think he did a really beautiful job on it!”

Similarly, bassist and vocalist Aaron Beam said getting to put this compilation really put the band’s 20 years into perspective.

“Perhaps unremarkable to anyone else, it’s fucking amazing to me that we have made it TWENTY YEARS. Before we started jamming in John Sherman’s basement, I’d already been in 40 (maybe more!) bands, none of which lasted more than a year or two. Yet somehow in 2005, for the first time since probably 1987 I found myself without any band to play in. It turned out this was also true of John, David, and Bryan! So it was only natural that we’d start playing together.

Deep Cuts will be released in a number of formats on March 14 via Relapse Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
