Hanabie. Get Their First Anime Tie-In Track with “Tasty Survivor”

0

For a Japanese metal act like Harajuku-core band HANABIE., getting one of your songs attached to an anime is probably similar to an early 2000s nu metal band getting their song attached to a WWE pay-per-view. It’s gotta be a super cool moment where your interests and your profession collide.

Well, the ladies in HANABIE. don’t have to speculate about that connection any longer, as they just released a new track titled “Tasty Survivor” that’s going to be used as the ending theme song for the new anime on Crunchyroll, Momentarily Lily.

For the uninitiated, modern anime shows tend to have two different theme songs: one for the intro and one for the ending credits. And while it may feel to us Westerners like being relegated to the ending credits would be the lesser of the two, it’s customary in Japan for TV and movie viewers to stick around and watch all of the credits, so HANABIE.’s placement is actually pretty good for them.

Speaking of the track, vocalist Yukina said she and her bandmates were excited to be attached to Momentary Lily.

“This is our very first tie-in with an anime, and we wrote this track specifically for it! The song reflects the world and characters of Momentary Lily while also capturing the essence of our band life. From the intense “eat or be eaten” vibe of live band battles to the exhilarating build-up toward the chorus, it mirrors the way we warm up for a live show and the anticipation of listeners heading to the venue.

“We hope this song becomes a source of energy for everyone living their lives to the fullest all over the world.”

As for the song itself, it’s very much an upbeat track, with some damn good breakdowns in there. Having watched them live at last summer’s Metal Injection Festival, I can personally attest that this band can fuckin’ go hard.

So definitely check out the music video below and take a moment to watch the trailer for Momentary Lily. If you’re so inclined, they’re also heading out on tour with Kim Dracula in March. Dates for that run are listed below.
