Epica Outline Their Forthcoming Album ‘Aspiral’, Stream New Single “Cross The Divide”

Earlier today, symphonic metal act Epica detailed their ninth studio album, Aspiral. Set for release on April 11 via Nuclear Blast Records, the band released the album’s second single and opening track “Cross the Divide” on all major streaming platforms, along with an accompanying music video.

The song itself is pretty catchy, as vocalist Simone Simons not only pushes the song’s narrative forward, but also serves as a major driving force within the tune itself. And given that this is symphonic metal, the whole thing’s got a big, epic sound.

As for the album’s title, the band said in a press release that they took inspiration from a 1965 sculpture done by Polish artist Stanislaw Szukalski that was also titled Aspiral.

“In Szukalski’s work, every detail is a piece of art on its own and there’s always more to the story than you initially think. The band saw this as the perfect analogy for the creation of this ninth album: Each song stands on its own with a distinctive vibe and meaning, while together they enforce each other into a monumental effort.”

Aspiral will be released on April 11 via Nuclear Blast Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
