Bullet for My Valentine Have 13 Tracks in the Works for Their Upcoming Album
Since 2005, Welsh metalcore band Bullet for My Valentine have never gone more than about three years between releasing albums. I mean, what else are you going to do when you live in Wales? It’s like England but with fewer people and more unnecessary letters in the names of things. There’s a reason that an episode of Torchwood once referred to Wales as “the British equivalent of New Jersey.” But this year will mark four years since the release of BFMV’s self-titled album in 2021, so they’re getting close to breaking their record for longest gap between albums. But that’s about to change, because apparently they have 13 tracks ready for a new album.
You’ll remember, back in November, the band posted photos of themselves in the studio with a seven-string guitar, indicating they were working on new music and potentially a new sound. Well, in a recent interview with Rock Sound (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Bullet for My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck gave an update on the band’s progress with recording new material:
“13 tracks. So a huge chunk. A long way to go. None of them have proper top lines or vocals on it. It’s just in the studio with guitars and just having fun instrumentally, writing stuff, messing around with tunings. And that’s how we’ve done things on the last album.”
He then continued:
“We don’t go in there with an agenda to write a certain way. We just try and make things different, like tuning the guitar differently or using a different amp. All those little things just kind of make your brain think in a different way, and you can play certain riffs in different tunings on a different amp, which sound better than others for some reason, even though it’s the same riff. So it’s just discovering something which gets the heart racing, makes you wanna play guitar. And then you just keep going until you get it. And sometimes it’s six months, sometimes it’s a year. So I don’t know how long this journey is gonna be, but we started it and it’ll be done when it’s done.”
So it’s hard to tell how long the journey to the next album will be, but BFMV fans can rest assured that new music is at least in the works.
