It Sure Looks Like Neurosis and Sleep Drummer Jason Roeder is Done Touring for Good
In a recent post on his Instagram, Sleep/Neurosis/Tribes Of Neurot drummer Jason Roeder simultaneously announced he was done touring and that he was selling most — if not all — of his equipment. Hopefully that’s not an indicator of something more troubling going on in his life, but for now we just have to go by what he said online.
“I am no longer a touring musician so I will be selling off most (possibly all) of my equipment and belongings.
“I can’t stand FB marketplace so I’ll be posting up here and on CL. Drums and cymbals, etc up soon.”
It should be noted that his entire Instagram account has been almost completely wiped clean except for sthe single post that he’s using to try to sell his Midas M32 mixer. He also changed his Instagram profile to read: “I used to go on stage and pretend I was supposed to be there.”.
As our friends over at Metal Injection wondered, is this whole stepping away from music thing might stem from Neurosis’ sudden end back in 2019. For those that don’t remember, that happened when people found out that the band’s frontman Scott Kelly was allegedly abusing his wife and kids. The band didn’t release a statement until three years after the fact, but that’s all we’ve heard from them since.
We’ll have to see if Roeder’s going to be involved in studio work moving forward or if he’s completely divesting himself from music. Only time will tell. We at MetalSucks just hope he’s doing alright.
