Primus Guitarist Larry LaLonde Is Latest To Lose His Home in Los Angeles Fires

0

The wildfires devastating Los Angeles County have left many homes in ashes in the area. While some of the stories of celebrities losing their homes are hard to feel sympathy for because, in some cases, the celebrities in question are filthy rich and are going to rebound quite easily and, in one other case, the celebrity in question was James Woods and he deserves everything bad that happens in his life. But in the case of metal musicians, you’re not exactly talking about billionaires and you’re generally talking about fairly cool people, so it’s a little bit sadder to see them lose everything in this natural disaster. And the latest artist to lose his home was a pretty cool guy: guitarist Larry LaLonde of Primus.

LaLonde took to Instagram to show what was left of his California home, which was essentially just the fireplace and chimney, as the rest has burnt to the ground. In the caption, LaLonde made a little joke about the situation, but also made a heartfelt tribute to everyone helping him through the situation:

“Well, we were bouncing around different ideas to remodel our home, but ultimately the Palisades fire decided on a more “open” floor plan. My mind is still trying to convince me this whole thing is real.

“As the losses in this fire trickle into my brain, it feels like being hit with a bag of rocks over and over, but the people around us make me feel like the luckiest mother fucker on the planet to have these people in my life. I don’t know how we could mentally survive this without the support of some amazing friends. Unfortunately this is a situation almost everyone in this town is in. Many unknowns here for now…..”

LaLonde’s wife, Shane Stirling LaLonde, also took to Instagram to post the smoldering remains of hers and her neighbors’ homes, saying:

“Our home is gone, and so are the homes of every one of our friends and neighbors. I am still in shock, not quite sure what just happened. The first photo is the video confirmation we received that our home was lost. Ours is the second property with the tree still with oranges in the front yard but nothing else. The other videos are our evacuation videos and some other videos shared to us. I’m not sure what happens now. But I am realizing hour by hour all that was lost. Especially hurtful my Grandmothers paintings, our letters and notes we shared, my incredible book collection omg both my Norman Rockwell signed Norman Rockwell books!!!! I just realized as I was typing this!!!!

“I went to buy an outfit today since I don’t have anything but the clothes I left in and realized I don’t have socks or shoes or a jacket. The memories, the family heirlooms, things I can’t say, and even hard drives we forgot in the chaos. We lost everything. It doesn’t sink in easily that you have nothing…. It’s still sinking in minute by minute. I know we are safe and yes I am grateful, but I can’t even begin to be close to grace yet as I can’t even comprehend this yet. Not just the things, but our town, our community. We all no longer have a home, a neighborhood, a school, a community. I am gutted to the core.

“Thank God and our friends who gave us a wonderful home to evacuate to. You are our guardian Angels during this time. To all my friends I love you so much, I am so sorry this has happened.”

We’d like to express our deepest sympathies to the LaLonde family and everyone else who lost their homes in the Los Angeles fires. Except James Woods. Fuck that guy.
