Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation Donate $500K for L.A. Fire Relief
It’s going to take a long time before we truly understand the impact and economic devastation that’s fallen upon the Los Angeles area thanks to the ongoing fires that continue to show no sign of slowing down. As countless people are forced to evacuate their homes and the death toll sadly rises, organizations have been donating what they can to help local relief and recovery efforts, with one such group being Metallica‘s philanthropic foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH).
Through their foundation, the world’s biggest metal act is donating a combined total of $500,000 to two key efforts: the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief And Recovery Fund. The former has a history of leveraging “partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies while using data from CalFire and the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index to prioritize underserved communities.” When it comes to this current crisis, the group began helping support “an array of critical recovery services, including housing, case management, mental health, and medical care for displaced residents. It also aids in rebuilding essential infrastructure like emergency communication systems and offers financial disaster assistance, labor law education, and immigration services to low-wage workers and immigrant families.”
As for the Pasadena Community Foundation’s (PCF) Eaton Canyon Fire Relief And Recovery Fund, that’s a smaller organization that still has a huge goal of helping make the most of their connections with civic and non-profit leaders to make sure the money and resources they provide go directly to those in need. According to AWMH, the PCF will use the $250,000 it’s receiving to “support immediate needs during relief efforts as the fires continue to spread. It will also support critical long-term recovery efforts after the fires are extinguished and the community embarks upon the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding what has been demolished.”
Needless to say, this sort of effort is going to be costly and take a lot of resources once the dust settles. If you can, consider helping out by donating to the California Community Foundation or the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief And Recovery Fund.
