Health Scare Cuts Nonpoint Show Short as Drummer Gets Rushed to the Hospital
Over the weekend a scary situation sprang up during the Nonpoint show in Louisville, Kentucky in which drummer Robb Rivera was rushed to a local hospital for abnormal heart issues during the band’s set. And while the fans in attendance missed out on a full set, the band recently announced via social media that things are looking up despite the scare.
According to those in attendance, Nonpoint had been playing their set when after multiple songs Rivera was spotted getting up from his drum kit and pacing back and forth across the stage. At one point he was seen holding an ice pack to himself to cool off. Apparently that wasn’t enough to help deal with the situation, as the band eventually called it a night and got an ambulance for Rivera.
Hours after the incident, the band posted a statement to social media letting fans know what happened.
“Thank you to the fans of Louisville for understanding us having to cut the set tonight. Robb had a sudden shift in his heart rate that was dangerously high and the paramedics were not able to get it down in time so they took him to the hospital.
“As of now his heart rate is stable and they’re running tests. We’ll keep you all posted on his progress as news comes in. Send them healing vibes our way so we can get our brother back on that drum throne.”
In a video about the event, frontman Elias Soriano said Rivera initially wanted to finish the show, but decided to follow his bandmates’ advice and seek medical attention. Eventually, Rivera’s condition was stable and still in the hospital. He, though he absolutely wanted also let fans know that doctors were able to get Rivera’s heart rate back down to normal.
Nonpoint had just started their run with Crobot and Heartsick for their “The Painful Statements Tour”. There’s no word how the incident will affect the run of live dates moving forward.
We at MetalSucks hope Rivera fully recovers as soon as possible.
