Electric Wizard Are Working On a New Album, But It’s Probably Their Last

0

It’s been a long seven years since British stoner doom legends Electric Wizard put out their ninth studio album Wizard Bloody Wizard. It seems like the wait for a new record from Electric Wizard may finally be coming to an end in 2025, but, unfortunately for fans, it looks like the band may be intending to end their career on an even 10 albums.

The band’s vocalist Jus Oborn broke the news in an interview with a publication with the silly title of It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine, which I assume is a magazine for psychedelic babies. In the interview, Oborn explained:

“Well, we actually have a new album coming next year. Yes, this live LP was just an ‘offering,’ a ‘gift’ (maybe even a contractual obligation, haha) to you while you patiently await our new recordings. I can’t see us doing more than one LP ever again, so we are making sure it’s bloody good. And bloody heavy.”

The live album in question there would be the band’s latest release entitled Black Magic Rituals and Perversions Vol. 1, a double album released last month on Spinefarm Records and, now, we know why they put it out.

It’s disappointing to hear that Electric Wizard plan to hang up their guitars on this one after rocking out for over three decades. Considering how cannabis is becoming more and more legal in the United States, you’d think this would be the perfect time for them to cultivate a bigger American audience. But it’s still good to know that they’re putting the effort to make their final offering as a band a damn good one. So look forward to that.
