Speed Cancels Dates on Australian Tour Due to Missing Friend
Everyone’s favorite Australian hardcore band with a flute, Speed, recently started their tour of their home country that a lot of people were looking forward to. Unfortunately, a number of dates on the tour have had to be cancelled due to a rather unfortunate reason: a friend of the band has gone missing.
The first notification came on Monday when the band cancelled their show on that day that was scheduled for the Black Box Theater in Nambour, saying on Instagram:
“Due to an emergency, Speed can no longer play our show tonight at the Black Box Theater in Nambour. The show will continue with Shackles headlining. Anyone seeking a refund can do so via Oztix.Thank you for your understanding.”
Shortly after, they gave an update, explaining the situation of their missing friend Aje:
“Our brother ‘Aje’ (Chang-Wook Yeo) has been missing since 3:45pm 6/1/2025. Last seen at Hanging Rock at Black Heath in the Blue Mountains region, where his phone and personal belongings were found there.
“A search by local authorities has been stopped today due to the weather, so please be careful if around that area due to the terrain and potential danger.
“He is a short Asian male, typically dressed in baggy clothes with glasses. His long hair has since been cut short. He speaks Korean and English. He lives in Sydney in Lidcombe so please keep an eye out in these areas too.
“We do not have ANY further information, so please share this with friends, colleagues and if anyone has any information or has sighted anything please contact Katoomba Police Station on (02) 4782 8199”
Finally, they gave a third update announcing that a handful of other dates on the tour had also been cancelled:
“Members of Speed are a primary point of contact in the missing persons case for our friend Aje. As the search continues we will need to remain in the Sydney and Blue Mountains area until we have more information. This means that the following shows of our tour will be postponed:
“- 7/1 Newcastle – Hamilton Station Hotel
– 9/1 Wollongong – Dicey Riley’s Hotel
– 10/1 Gosford – Drifter’s Wharf
– 11/1 Penrith – Tattersall’s Hotel
– 12/1 Canberra -UC Hub
“We will regroup when we have more information to figured out the remaining January dates of the tour in Victoria and Adelaide. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this difficult time.”
According to the Hamilton Station Hotel where the band was planning to play in Newcastle, that show, at least, will be postponed and rescheduled.
We at MetalSucks hope that Aje is soon found safe and well.
