Former Mushroomhead Vocalist Jeffrey “Nothing” Hatrix Diagnosed with Cancer
I’m sorry to say that it’s once again time to talk about that sucker-punching little bitch known as “cancer.” We have to bring it up because there’s sad news that Jeffrey “Nothing” Hatrix, former vocalist of long-running alt-metal band Mushroomhead, has been diagnosed with cancer.
The vocalist admitted that he was reluctant to make news of his illness public, but finally came around to doing so yesterday on his Facebook page. He reposted a GoFundMe campaign that was started by his daughter Mea, saying:
“I really wanted to keep this to myself. I was diagnosed a couple months ago. It will be very hard to continue working with the treatment path I have chosen. Thank You for anything you can do to help. I know everyone is going through a lot.”
Everyone is going through a lot, but obviously not so much that they can’t have sympathy for a man who was diagnosed with cancer.
In the description on the GoFundMe page, Mea Hatrix wrote:
“My dad has recently been diagnosed with Cancer, just months after losing my mom to the same thing. Due to this, he may have to stop working during his treatment.
Anything means everything, Thank you.”
At the time of this writing, the newly minted GoFundMe campaign has only raised a little over $6,000, although it has only existed for a few hours. Still, I’d like to see the metal community pull off more than that, as healthcare is criminally expensive in the United States.
Naturally, everyone here at MetalSucks would like to express our hope that Hatrix recovers as soon as possible, and we’d like to extend our deepest sympathies to him and his family at this time. Go kick cancer’s ass, Jeffrey!
