Cradle of Filth’s New Album ‘The Screaming Of The Valkyries’ is Coming This April

Just a few months stand between now and the release of Cradle of Filth‘s forthcoming album The Screaming Of The Valkyries. That’s according to a recent Metal Hammer interview featuring the one and only Dani Filth, who also revealed that the Ed Sheeran team up track won’t be on the damn thing. So who the fuck knows when this more than two-year wait will come to an end?!

Though we don’t know the exact release date for this new album, Filth said it would be coming “early April” and that it would have references to some of his band’s classic albums like the 1996 release Dusk… And Her Embrace and 2000’s Midian. And while past albums have had an overarching concept or theme to them, Filth said this one’s going to be a no-nonsense kind of effort.

“So this is just an album. It’s not an album with filly bits attached, like intros and outros. No guest appearances. Just nine songs. It’s still quite a lengthy running time, obviously. We can’t write a short song to save our fucking lives.”

As for why the Sheeran track won’t be on the new record, Filth said it was all in service of making sure the rest of the record got a chance to stand on its own. Given how incredibly popular Sheeran is in non-metal/normie circles, that kind of makes sense.

“We don’t want it to overshadow the record. But we are going to bring it out. Originally, everybody wanted us to bring it out to glorious fanfare but Ed’s management weren’t keen on that. We’re not absolutely sure how it will emerge, but it’s been done, mixed and it’s sitting on the shelf somewhere… you know, virtually. And it’s fucking fantastic. But only a handful of people have actually heard it. My mum hasn’t even heard it.”

So there ya have it. Not much time left before the world gets a new Cradle of Filth record. Just don’t hold your breath if you’re an Ed Sheeran fan.
