Slipknot’s Clown Now Says Look Outside Your Window Has Been Handed Off to Management

0

It’s been talked about a lot lately, but Slipknot‘s vaporware-esque album Look Outside Your Window could maybe be coming early next year. That’s according to one of the masterminds behind the project, M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, whose involvement in the project was pointed to by guitarist Jim Root for why it’s taken so long to come out.

Yet in a recent interview with NME, Crahan revealed that the lost album now has artwork and a marketing plan’s been drawn up for its eventual promotion and release. All in all, it sound like Look Outside Your Window might be released next year. Though we’ve heard that before…

“I did say it was going to be in 2024, and I gave it the best fight that I could to make it this year. What I can tell you is that I showed Corey the final artwork two days ago. It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I can’t slide it in this year. But you have my word, it’s out of my hands now. It’s being moved on, the money has been spent and there is a plan. The management has it and it is coming out.

“I’m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! What’s nice though is that it isn’t a hype thing, it’s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn’t Slipknot, but utilized the skills of guys with no rules. I don’t know if it’s ‘good’, but I know that I love it. I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too.”

For those that don’t know, the album was recorded during the 2008 All Hope Is Gone sessions but it’s really more like a Slipknot side project, as it features Clown and other Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and DJ Dam Wilson. In the past, it’s been described as having a sort of Radiohead sound, which given the people involved in the project, sounds like it could be either insanely interesting or a trainwreck. We just don’t know because we haven’t heard it yet.

Look Outside Your Window was originally supposed to drop on Christmas Day 2019, but that never happened. In the years since, the band has suggested that its release was imminent, but fans have only been wondering about the record ever since.

We’ll just have to wait and see if this damn thing eventually comes out. We’ve been told “it’s coming” so many times that the phrase has almost lost all meaning.
