Slipknot’s Jim Root Says He’s Threatened to Leak Look Outside Your Window

0

It’s been far too long to wait — about a decade or so — but at this point it almost feels like Slipknot‘s Look Outside Your Window is never coming out. I mean, we know it’s done and all that we’re waiting for is the band to finally just put it out, but they still haven’t done it. And at this point, it’s apparently causing some members of the band to (at least jokingly) threaten to take matters into their own hands.

During a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root was asked how things are progressing with the release of the long-delayed release. While admitting that it was likely that M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan was likely fucking around with the mix in an attempt to get it perfect and that was likely the cause of the delay, Root said he’s warned that it might suddenly show up on his personal YouTube page.

“Man, I keep telling Clown that I’m just gonna throw it up on YouTube, then put a link to it on my Instagram or something. He’s like, ‘Don’t dude, just don’t.’”

For those that don’t know, the album was recorded during the 2008 All Hope Is Gone sessions but it’s really more like a Slipknot side project, as it features Clown and other Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and DJ Dam Wilson. In the past, it’s been described as having a sort of Radiohead sound, which given the people involved in the project, sounds like it could be either insanely interesting or a trainwreck. We just don’t know because we haven’t heard it yet.

Look Outside Your Window was originally supposed to drop on Christmas Day 2019, but that obviously never happened. In the years since, the band has suggested that its release was imminent, but fans have only been wondering about the record ever since.

Given how much time’s elapsed since its recording, Root told Metal Hammer that he wondered if Clown has begun “losing focus on it.”

“I don’t even remember what any of that stuff sounds like, because it’s been so long since we recorded it. I don’t think I’ve listened to it in probably 10 years. Maybe I’ll go find him after we are done talking, and I’ll be like, ‘Let’s listen to Look Outside Your Window, and let’s release it tonight…’”
