Harakiri For The Sky Release Ethereal Cover of Radiohead’s “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”

0

When it comes to influential rock bands from the 90s, there are very few that have made as big an impact as the U.K.’s own Radiohead. So it makes sense that a post-black metal band like Harakiri For The Sky would repurpose one of the British band’s songs with their cover of “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”.

If you’ve ever heard the original — I’ve included its music video below — it’s a beautiful, melancholy piece of music. Well, that’s kind of what you get with Harakiri For The Sky’s version, only more epic. To help push the track over the edge just a little more, they asked PG of Groza.

Speaking of the track, the band said the song was chosen because it apparently matches their emotional energy.

“We chose to cover ‘Street Spirit’ because it resonates deeply with the emotions that drive our music—a haunting reflection of despair and hope. We loved Radiohead’s masterpiece ever since its release and it also reflects our 90s indie rock roots. Therefore we felt compelled to reinterpret it in our own style together with our good friend, PG of Groza, who brought another layer of raw intensity and allowed us to capture the song’s deep melancholy.”

All of this is in service of the band’s forthcoming album Scorched Earth, which will be released on January 24 via AOP Records. You can preorder your copy today. The band also has a buncha tour dates lined up for next year, so you can check out those dates below.
