Knocked Loose’s Bryan Garris: “The Ceiling Gets Higher for Everyone, Every Single Day”

0

You know, Knocked Loose’s 2024 album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To was not one of my favorite albums of this year, but it’s hard to deny that it’s one of the most important albums of 2024. The fact that the band recently got to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is further evidence that this album has broken into the mainstream in a way that no hardcore album has managed to pull off in a very long time. And, while Knocked Loose is riding high on their fame, it still stands to be seen how this will affect other similar bands in the scene. And, in case you were wondering, the band’s vocalist Bryan Garris is very aware of what the band has achieved this year.

In a post made to Instagram on Saturday, Garris shared his thoughts on the band’s recent national television appearance as well as the shocking popularity the band has achieved overall this year:

“You may have seen it already, you may have not. I’ve been lucky enough that my timeline is flooded with so much support that I see it every time I open my phone. But I wanted a chance to post about it myself. The other day Knocked Loose performed on [Jimmy Kimmel Live!] For a long time now our goal has been to see how far we could squeeze this band into places where we don’t fit and I think this may be the biggest one. National television. It feels like the ceiling gets higher for EVERYONE, every single day. We celebrate this together. Thank you so much.

“Walking down the hallway as we were escorted to stage Im looking to my left and right and seeing photos of all the celebrities that have been on the show over the years. Presidents, actors, musicians etc. I leaned over to [lead guitarist Isaac Hale] and said ‘this started in your garage.’ He grabbed onto me and squeezed as hard as he could. That’s a moment I’ll never forget.

“PS if it scared you, good.”

The last line of his post, of course, refers to the viewer complaints that came about from Knocked Loose’s performance on Kimmel. But it seems that even the easily offended and their crying children aren’t going to be enough to slow down the Knocked Loose train.
