Former Dio and Whitesnake Guitarist Doug Aldrich Offers Positive Update On Cancer Treatment and Recovery
It’s time to talk again about that little bitch that fights dirty: cancer. Guitarist Doug Aldrich—who spent four years in Dio and 12 years in Whitesnake and currently plays lead guitar for supergroup The Dead Daisies which features John Corabi of Mötley Crüe fame—was diagnosed with a treatable form of throat cancer back in September, forcing him to sit out The Dead Daisies’ European tour. He underwent surgery for it that, according to a post from his wife Danni, went very well, but we haven’t heard much from him since then.
Early this morning, Aldrich offered an update on Instagram in which he revealed that he’s actually doing quite well, all things considered:
“Hi everyone….Hope all is great where you are! Some of you have been wondering about my treatment and recovery so…Four weeks of Radio treatment done and two to go! I’m doing better than expected…not losing weight and getting through it. I have a few issues but I feel blessed that it’s stuff I can deal with. Basically my neck is burnt badly from getting zapped everyday but it will heal up good when I’m done. Jaw is still pissed off at me and I’m tired a lot but otherwise I’m good. Thank you so much for all the prayers ???? and well wishes ???????? cause it really really has helped me a lot ❤️ Hope you guys are still enjoying the ‘Light ‘Em Up’ record, and I look forward to seeing you asap????Happy Holidays wherever you are!”
It’s always good to hear about someone triumphing over that little bitch, cancer. We’re really excited to hear this good news about Aldrich and wish him a speedy recovery and good health in the future.
