Former Iron Maiden Singer Paul Di’Anno Laid to Rest in London
Paul Di’Anno, the former singer of Iron Maiden, was laid to rest last week on Thursday, November 21 in the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium in Manor Park, East London, United Kingdom. Several photos have come out of the ceremony, some of which you can see via a few Facebook profiles below.
One of those posts, coming from Di’Anno’s official Facebook page showcasing his lowered coffin, was accompanied by this caption:
“Let’s raise glass for the last time for Paul Di’Anno. His funeral was today and this picture is published by the approval of his family. Thanks to everyone today and thanks Kastro Pergjoni for beautiful afternoon at Cart and Horses in long memory of Paul.”
Di’Anno, whose real name was Paul Andrews, passed away on October 21 at the age of 66. His family confirmed that Di’Anno’s cause of death was because of a “tear in the sac around the heart.”
“Dear fans and friends. We have received permission from Paul’s family to bring you the news of Paul’s cause of death, after the results of the autopsy have been received.
“His sisters Cheryl and Michelle confirmed the following: ‘Basically he had a tear in the sac around the heart and blood has filled inside it from the main aorta artery and that has caused the heart to stop.’ Paul’s death was instantaneous and hopefully painless. May he rest in peace.”
Born in Chingford, East London on May 17, 1958, Di’Anno was the lead singer of Iron Maiden from 1978 and 1981, singing on their self-titled and its follow-up Killers.
