Definitely not as eventful of a week as last week, but there’s still some good shit to sink your teeth into. I’m personally excited to listen to an extra pissed off Ice-T in Body Count’s latest. Body Count
Merciless (Century Media)
Sure, he may be rich and play a cop on TV these days, but Body Count frontman and iconic rapper Ice-T is still the pissed off dude he’s always been. In Body Count’s latest release, the band keep the rage up and let Ice-T just spit venom. All the while, they still manage to take the time to put together an incredibly unique take on Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb.” Definitely worth checking this one out.
Defeated Sanity
Chronicles of Lunacy (Season Of Mist)
Hit play on this one and you’ll pretty much be inundated with just ignorant, blasphemous, gross sounding death metal. But this isn’t just for the knuckle draggers out there. These guys know how to play and show off their impressive skills with reckless abandon. What more would you want so close to the holidays?!
Kruelty
Profane Usurpation (Closed Casket Activities)
This EP from Japanese hardcore/death metal outfit Kruelty is the band’s first release since their guitarist Zuma stepped in to also handle vocals after their previous vocalist Tatami left the band. Regardless of the lineup change, these guys still crush everything in their path.
Opeth
The Last Will and Testament (Reigning Phoenix Music)
What’s there left to say about this record at this point? If you’re a fan of old-school Opeth, you’re going to absolutely cream your jeans over how good the band sounds in 2024. Fans of old school Opeth are going to absolutely adore this new one, while more modern Opeth fans are going to also appreciate what they did in the year of our lord, 2024.
Xandria
Universal Tales (Napalm Records)
Time for a little symphonic metal straight out of Deutschland (Germany) in the form of this nine-track EP from Xandria. It’s epic, bombastic, and sure to get your Outlander-obsessed significant others interested in metal for once.
