Who Wants to Drum for Primus? They’re “Taking Submissions From All Points in the Universe”

0

Time for a fun new game show: Who Wants to Drum for Primus? After the shocking development where longtime Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander abruptly quit the band saying he had lost his passion for playing, Primus finds themselves with a lot of tour dates booked for the next few months and nobody to play the drums.  Their upcoming New Years Eve shows in Oakland, California will feature an augmented version of the band while their upcoming performance at Tool’s Live in the Sand show in the Dominican Republic, they plan to have Tool drummer Danny Carey fill in for them. But they’ve still have a US tour planned for April through June of next year with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, and they’re going to need someone behind the drumkit. Well, it looks like the band is willing to recruit just about anyone, and they’re holding open auditions.

The announcement came on Primus’ social media, with the band posting on Instagram:

“We are currently taking submissions from all points in the universe for the position of Primus drummer/percussionist.

“Seeking a well-mannered, affable individual with original sensibility and aesthetic, possessing a desire to open new doors in the creative world.

“Flashy chops are wonderful, but groove, pocket, and the ability to listen, react, and contribute to the musical conversation is a must.

“Submit resume and a recent video performance to

[email protected].”

So, with Primus taking submissions from all points in the universe, I want to see people from everywhere sending in submissions. North Korea, Iran, the lost city of Atlantis, Saturn’s moon Titan, The Ood Sphere, the Delta Quadrant, everywhere. Unfortunately, entries from other universes do not qualify. Sorry Terrans.

If you’re looking to submit your own audition for the position, here’s where you might find yourself traveling with the band:
