Mötley Crüe Raised $350K for Covenant House, So They Might Be Good for Something in 2024
Making fun of Mötley Crüe has become something of a beloved pastime here at MetalSucks. It’s not our fault the band can barely be taken seriously anymore — we certainly didn’t ask them to come back out of retirement, only to fire the one good remaining member of the band and put out a song/EP so abysmally bad as “Cancelled”. But just as a broken clock is right twice a day, so too can Mötley Crüe do something good from time to time.
In a recent announcement, it was revealed that the Crüe managed to raise roughly $350,000 for Covenant House through their ‘Mötley Crüe Giveback Initiative.” The band originally sought to raise $250,000, but they managed to overtake that amount with the help of their fans and partners.
The funds were raised through a special charity dinner at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, as well as an auction for super rare Mötley Crüe items from their Höllywood Takeöver.
Speaking of the band’s success raising the funds, Covenant House CEO Bill Bedrossian said the organization’s work with Mötley Crüe over the last two decades has been a great partnership.
“Mötley Crüe has supported Covenant House for close to 20 years, quietly supporting young people in need for decades. But this past month of concerts, auctions, and the charity dinner showed that Crüeheads all over the world care deeply about young people experiencing homelessness, too. The generosity shown by the band and their supporters will enable so many more young people to have the opportunity to be safe, supported, and to pursue their dreams. What an incredible legacy for the Crüe!”
Similarly, Mötley Crüe said they were happy to help Covenant House, which helps struggling youths find a stable place to sleep and helps them live a better life.
“Every young person deserves a safe place to sleep and the opportunity to thrive. It’s been an honor to support Covenant House in the fight to end youth homelessness. Thank you to all the Crüeheads who joined the fight and helped make this donation possible. We are humbled and inspired by all of you.”
In addition to today’s news, the band also dropped a visualizer for their song “Cancelled”, which soured the mood entirely. If you remember correctly, that song was panned by yours truly. I called it cringeworthy garbage and made fun of the grade school lyrics that I imagined Vince Neil sucking wind to while trying to perform it live during their Las Vegas residency…
