Despite Recent Loss, Brujeria Reconfirmed as Support for Carcass’ European Tour
Mexican-American death grind band Brujeria would be absolutely justified in taking a break right now. In the past four months, two of the band’s vocalists have died, one of whom (Juan Brujo) was a founding member and the other (Pinche Peach) of whom had been in the band since Jello Biafra departed in 1992. The band put out their debut album in 1993, so both Brujo and Peach appeared on every full-length album. I don’t think anyone would fault the band for saying “Hey, we just need a minute.” But somehow they’re pushing on, as the band have been reconfirmed as the support for Carcass’ Europa Rigor Mortis Part I European tour.
Brujeria was originally announced as support for Carcass’ tour back in early September, after the death of Peach but before the death of Brujo. The band had originally planned to push on after Peach’s death and continue with their Mexorcita Tour, but Brujo’s death caused them to cancel their last few tour dates. So there was no certainty, after Brujo died, that Brujeria would still be able to fulfill their commitments on the Carcass tour. But now the updated admat for the tour bills Brujeria as (translated from Spanish) “Tribute to Juan Brujo and Pinche Peach.”
Additionally, the tour has picked up four more dates in Belgium, Germany, France, and Spain. The full list of updated tour dates is listed below:
