Archspire’s Watching Your Drum Audition Videos with Some Unique Criteria in Mind

When Spencer Prewett left Archspire last month, it was announced that the band would be holding open auditions to find out who’ll be holding shit down behind the kit. Turns out, they weren’t kidding about that, as they released a video earlier today showing the band going over nine promising submissions from drummers on YouTube.

As dudes that don’t know much about drumming, the remaining members of Archspire jokingly said they had different criteria for what they want in their next drummer. Things like how hunky they are, what their hair situation is, and someone who’s “very smart but willing to play ignorant music.” What they got were some killer clips of drummers absolutely throwing down on the band’s particular brand of tech death.

Keep in mind that Prewett had been with the band since its inception back in 2009, making him part of pretty much every major milestone they celebrated over the years. Finding his replacement’s going to be one of the more important things the band’s going to have to figure out in the near future.

It’s just incredible how talented some people are, man. Each one of the submissions highlighted in this video show each drummers’ amazing skills, which like the rest of Archspire, occasionally floored me with how insanely fast and precise these guys were. Seriously, I don’t envy the rest of the band for having to choose their next drummer from the pool of incredibly talented individuals.
