Exodus Entering the Studio in February 2025 Now

California thrash-metal icons Exodus have gone back and forth a bit on when they plan to release the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2021 album Persona Non Grata. Last year, vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza said that the band hoped to enter the studio in either March or April of 2024 and have the album out by September 2024. Those deadlines have all come and gone, and Exodus have yet to release anything.

Back in February they said their time in the studio got pushed back to May, but that doesn’t seem to have happened either. Just this last August, the band said they were taking a little bit longer with the writing process to make sure that the new album was going to be up to their standards. Well, now, the band is planning to enter the studio in February 2025, which is something I’ll believe when I see it.

In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth) Exodus guitarist Gary Hold gave an update on the band’s progress on the next album:

“I’ve got a dozen [songs] in the works right now, and Lee [Altus, EXODUS guitarist] has some stuff. Our plan is to hit the studio in February. We were gonna do it this summer, but we felt we were rushing it. And the last time was so well received and a landmark album for us, we can’t shortchange ourselves and hurry into it. And [we have a] brand new record label with Napalm Records and we wanted to make sure the album’s as good as it possibly can be. So, February and March we’ll be in the studio and then back at it again after that. No rest for the wicked, for sure.”

I honestly don’t care when they finally get in the studio and record the new album. Obviously, good art takes time, and nobody wants to see them rush the new album. But maybe stop giving the press your timetable when you’re not that sure about it.

So expect a new record from Exodus somewhere around 2028 or something, I don’t even know anymore.
