Crucified Barbara Announce Reunion and First Show in 10 Years

Get ready to jump back into the fire, because Crucified Barbara are back!

The Swedish metal goddesses, Crucified Barbara, put out their last album In the Red 10 years ago, and played their last shows as a band soon after, officially announcing their split in 2016. After all that time apart, the quartet are ready to get back to doing what they do best, announcing their first show in roughly a decade at next year’s Sweden Rock Festival.

In a post on vocalist Mia Karlsson’s Instagram account, the band announced their return to playing music, saying:

“Dear all,

“It’s been a while, to say the least! Our last gig was almost ten years ago. The break has been much needed for all of us, but… our love for our music, for each other, and for our audience has never faded during these years. Next year is the twentieth anniversary of the release of In Distortion We Trust and we want to celebrate with you!

“We’ll do this by playing the best tunes from our four albums live next summer! Our re-union will debut at [Sweden Rock Festival] taking place June 4-7, 2025!

“We’ve already had some magical moments in the rehearsal room and are amazed at how our music still lives within us, longing to be played. We can’t wait to perform live for you all again!

“Mia, Klara, Ida, Nicki

Crucified Barbara”

The signature at the bottom confirms that the band will be returning with their core lineup that played on all four of their studio albums. In fact, the only lineup change in the band came before they released their first album, when original vocalist Joey Nine left the band and Karlsson, who was already the band’s lead guitarist, took over vocals. Not a lot of bands are able to keep their lineups that long and, even with the hiatus, that’s impressive.

Crucified Barbara add to an already packed lineup for Sweden Rock Festival, including Slipknot, Sabaton, Scorpions, Dream Theater, King Diamond, Korn, Opeth, Kreator, Meshuggah, Cattle Decapitation, and Myrkur. While those are all awesome artist, Skillet is also playing, which automatically reduces the coolness of any festival by about 40%.

No word on what, if anything, Crucified Barbara have planned following Sweden Rock Festival, but the post definitely makes it sound like this reunion will continue on past this one show.
