Sh*t That Comes Out Today: October 18, 2024
I know I brought up the Mets last week, which seems to be a long running theme with MetalSucks if you go back in our nearly 20 year history, but man. Last night against the Dodgers was… not good. And a super bummer. If the season ends tonight, I’ll live. At least there’s new metal to drown in…
Contrition
Pariahs
We ran an exclusive EP stream of this release yesterday and I gotta say — there’s some great shit on this one. It’s the latest release from Chicago-based death/extreme metal act and if you still worship at the altar of 90s death metal but really dig a more modern vibe thrown into the mix, you’ll enjoy this one.
Deivos
Apophenia (Selfmadegod Records)
Like Contrition above, we ran an album premiere of Deivos’ seventh full-length album Aprophenia on the site earlier this week. This Polish death metal band is just here to break your neck with its relentless attack. From the moment you hit play, this thing hits like a Mac truck that’s had its breaks cut. Just hit play and let this one roll over you like an M1 Abrams tank.
Escuela Grind
Dreams On Algorithms (MNRK Heavy)
Sure, they’ve had a bit of a controversial year, but Escuela Grind’s still out here grinding away at their craft. As their first full-length since 2022’s Memory Theater, they’re out here fighting to show they’re still full of piss and vinegar. Dreams On Algorithms is their attempt at reclaiming the narrative and making a statement with 10 new tracks.
Jerry Cantrell
I Want Blood (Double J Music)
What is there to say about Jerry Cantrell that hasn’t been said already. The man will go down as a master of his craft that’s been able to leverage his guitar playing, vocal talents, and lyrical prowess to not only make Alice in Chains the household name that it is, but also to forge a stellar solo career. I Want Blood is Cantrell’s fourth solo effort and while not as strong a showing as Degradation Trip or Brighten, this is absolutely worth checking out before catching him on tour.
Melted Bodies
The Inevitable Fork
If you’re looking for a wild sonic journey and don’t mind if you can’t quite pin down what it is you’re listening to, then you’re going to love Melted Bodies’ The Inevitable Fork. These guys have pretty much always been unclassifiable and that’s not changing with this one. It’s just heavy enough to get your attention as a metalhead, but completely out in left field with how bonkers it gets. The Inevitable Fork is an unpredictable ride.
