Sammy Duet Comments on Acid Bath’s Return, Names Other Members: “Yes, This Is Real”

Yesterday, you could have pushed me over with a feather by how absolutely stunned I was reading that Acid Bath was playing Sick New World next year. That band broke up all the way back in 1997 and there was so many times where it was expressly said they weren’t getting back together. But heavy metal is becoming more and more like Marvel comic books, in that anything that’s dead and gone will inevitably come back because reasons.

In an Instagram Live post, guitarist Sammy Duet confirmed that yes, that is indeed the Acid Bath we’re talking about here. Not only that, but he explained that the rest of the band will indeed include Dax Riggs and Mike Sanchez, while Zach Simmons and Alex Bergeron will handle drums and bass, respectively.

“Well hello everyone. I guess you’ve seen the news. Yes, Acid Bath is playing Sick New World. Yes, this is real. Yes, Dax Riggs is involved along with Mike Sanchez on second guitar. Currently it’s Zach Simmons on drums and Alex Begeron on bass. But yes, too many questions from too many people. That’s what you got. Love y’all.”

According to Riggs, the band will be playing songs from their two full-length albums for what’s being called a “special one-time show.”

For those that don’t know, Acid Bath was formed in 1991 and only existed until 1997. During that time, Duet, Sanchez, and Riggs made music with drummer Jimmy Kyle and bassist Audie Pitre, who passed away far too young in 1997.

So it’s sounding like the Sick New World show is the only chance you’ll get to see Acid Bath. I don’t necessarily believe that statement these days, but you know..
