Have a fuck ton of money just sitting in your bank account? Are you a huge Metallica fan? Do you enjoy pinball enough to dedicate a space in your home for one or more machines? If you answered yes to all of those, then boy do the Bay Area thrash legends and Stern Pinball have something exciting for you.

Revealed earlier today, a special “remastered” version of Metallica Pinball was loosed onto the world. After 11 years since the original table dropped, becoming one of the more successful pinball machines in recent years, the collab between Metallica and Stern Pinball resulted in a more modern, updated machine.

According to the official item listing, there are two versions of the updated machine: a Premium edition and a Limited Edition version, along with a buncha extra accessories. The updates include “full-color LCD display featuring all-new animations and live concert video footage…expanded gameplay and improved presentation with 22 songs (8 more than the original) and expanded gameplay rules.

Cabinet improvements include an Expression Lighting system and 2 all-new art packages by Metallica artist Rhys Cooper.” The machines will also feature the original layout, but will have “new versions of gameplay toys, updated mechanical devices, and new UV lighting effects.”

Speaking of the new machine, Seth Davis, president and CEO of Stern Pinball, Inc., said the Metallica table is an exciting entry for any pinball collector.

“Metallica is one of the quintessential pinball games that has been treasured and respected for over a decade now. We’re incredibly proud of the entire Stern team in collaboration with Metallica for their thoughtful yet modern recreation of this beloved game, staying true to the design philosophies that have shaped pinball today and for years to come.”

And even though the remastered 2024 limited edition of the pinball machine comes with a whopping $12,999 price tag, it’s already sold out. Sure, a lot of the buyers of something like this probably own a business where pinball machines make sense, but I’m sure some of you Metallica superfans with more money than sense got your hands on one of these. The premium edition is still available and can be yours for $9,699.00.

Let me be clear though, if this is your hobby and you love the shit out of some Metallica and pinball, then go off. But I just know that if I bought this thing, it would ultimately be a place for me to put my clean, unfolded laundry and ain’t nobody got money for that.
