Metallica Donate $100,000 for Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts
Fuck hurricanes. Helene is ravaging the South and ruining so many things, and Metallica is among the many artists who are trying to find ways to help. Through their All Within My Hands (AWMH) foundation, they’ve donated $100,000 to try and provide as much direct and immediate support as possible for the Hurricane Helene victims so far.
Specifically, Metallica and AWMH are donating $50,000 each to Team Rubicon and World Central Kitchen. Team Rubicon is an extreme clean-up team that’s been working on clearing out all the debris and destruction the hurricane is leaving in its path, so that way relief efforts can safely make it to the communities in need. World Central Kitchen is providing clean water and food to those who can’t get it, teaming up with tons of food trucks and restaurants to get them the good shit. AWMH is donating portions of their ticket sales to help make all of this happen, focusing on the cities the band visited during the southern leg of their “M72” tour.
Hurricane Helene touched down on September 26 and has been fucking up Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas since. It’s now considered the third-deadliest storm in the US, taking over 200 lives and counting since its start. Many artists have been affected by the hurricane and have been doing whatever they can to help. Most recently, Converge released a live album to further raise funds for relief through Mutual Aid Disaster Relief. Listen to the album and find out more about donating through them here.
