After Bad Weather Canceled Part of Louder Than Life, Ticketholders Can Catch Slayer at Aftershock
Bad weather happens at metal festivals all the time and in most instances, the show just goes on with fans, support staff, and the bands themselves enjoying the music while getting absolutely soaked. Yet when Hurricane Helene ran through the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky last weekend, things were too dicey to continue and that Friday was completely canceled, leaving fans in the lurch.
Normally, that would mean mass refunds or just people being out the money they spent on that ticket, but organizer Danny Wimmer Presents decided to at least attempt to make those fans whole by letting them redeem either their Friday ticket or their four-day pass to Louder Than Life for entry into this year’s Aftershock on October 10. And all of it is in service of letting those people see Slayer’s final (scheduled) reunion show live.
All they gotta do is, well, get their asses out to Sacramento, California next week…

As mentioned in that statement, fans indeed got an email explaining the thought process behind allowing the tickets to be reused at an entirely different festival.
“Loudmouths – we know how disappointing it was to miss Slayer‘s performance at Louder Than Life, and we share your heartbreak. We spent five years working to bring that reunion to life, and not being able to deliver that moment was devastating for us too.
“However, we always strive to do right by you, the fans. That’s why we’re excited to offer ALL Louder Than Life pass holders affected by Friday’s cancellation an exclusive opportunity to see Slayer at Aftershock in Sacramento, CA on Thursday, October 10.
“We know it’s coming up quickly, and we understand that traveling may not be possible for everyone. But for those of you who can make the trip, we want to make sure you have the chance to witness this legendary performance. If you’re able to take advantage of this offer, please review the important details…”
According to organizers, the offer to make the Louder Than Life transferrable to Aftershock goes as follows:
- The offer includes a Thursday or four-day general admission pass to Aftershock (your choice)
- Your RSVP name has to match your Front Gate order
- You must have your Louder Than Life Front Gate order ID
- You can get the same number of passes for Aftershock as you did with Louder Than Life
- Passes can only be picked up at will-call
Once again, you’re going to have to get out to California to take advantage of this, but at least they’re trying to make good.
