Meadows Bassist Brandon Dabbs Passed Away
Birmingham, Alabama-based melodic hardcore act Meadows are mourning the loss of one of their members today, as news broke that the band’s bassist Brandon Dabbs has died. No cause of death has been revealed at this time.
In an Instagram post last night, the band paid tribute to their fallen comrade, saying:
“Rest in peace, Brandon
“A friend truly sticks closer than a brother. There are no right words to summarize the brotherhood we’ve shared over the past 12 years. The shows we’ve played, the people we’ve shared community with, and the love you’ve shown to so many. The impact you’ve made will be eternal.
“We are grieving and trusting in the comforting hand of Jesus during this time.
“Best job I’ve ever had”
Blayte Steuer of straight-edge crew No Cure posted in the Alabama Hardcore Shows Facebook group, saying:
“Rest in peace Brandon Dabbs.
“Brandon has been a part of all of this about as long as I can remember. I clearly remember seeing Meadows around 2011 at Planet Avalon in Decatur. I was taken aback by how good his bass sounded even then. Since those days he has always been kind, easy to talk to, and pleasant to be around.
“What a loss. If there’s any open service or applicable info I’ll update it here.”
Vocalist Joe Calderon of the band Lightworker similarly posted a tribute on Facebook, saying:
“Brandon: You were one of the sweetest guys I met through this crazy music endeavor. I hate that we never got to share the stage and tour even though we discussed it many times.
“Thank you for being a shining example of what it truly means to live out your beliefs..
Sending condolences and love to the Dabbs family, Meadows crew, and friends”
With all the tributes pouring in, it seems that Brandon Dabbs was an absolutely beloved figure in the Birmingham hardcore scene. We would like to offer our deepest condolences to his friends, family, bandmates, fans, and the entire local hardcore community in this time of healing.
