Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan Are Officially Dad-Core After Hot Ones Appearance
I’m sure a lot of you people online will be like “but Hesher, they were already dad metal, DUH” and to that I say shut up, I’m old and that’s offensive to me. But still, when I watched Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan sit across from one another doing tasks and asking questions as part of the First We Feast series Hot Ones Versus, I couldn’t help but feel like some of the edge was blunted.
For those that don’t know, Hot Ones Versus is when two competitors ask each other questions and do things, but if they don’t want to answer or don’t/can’t do the thing, they have to eat a “death wing” that’s covered in The Last Dab hot sauce. That shit ranks in at nearly 2.7 million Scoville heat units, so that’s no joke.
Sure, they still put on an insane show. Yes, if I had the opportunity I’d go see them do their anniversary show. But watching this just felt like… not metal. At one point, Taylor’s asked to expose metal artists that use backing tracks and at the behest of trying to “be a better person,” he opts to eat a wing instead. COME ON, COREY! GIVE US THE DEETS! I CAN ONLY HARP ON MÖTLEY CRÜE‘S VINCE NEIL FOR SO LONG!
…But I digress.
In all seriousness, it’s funny to see these guys do something so hokey and out of left field to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut self-titled album. Shows they have a good sense of humor about shit, even if they’re dudes in their 50s wearing masks out in public.
