Slayer Reunion Canceled Because Weather Sucks

0

Remember how excited we all were when it was announced that Slayer would be reuniting at this year’s Louder Than Life fest? Well, because we legit can’t ever have nice things, the reunion was canceled along with the rest of the Friday (September 27) shows due to goddamn Hurricane Helene.

Slayer wasn’t the only one to get fucked over by this. Anthrax, Evanescence, and In This Moment also lost their sets, among others.

The organizers released a statement earlier on Friday saying that they were prepared to brace for whatever shit weather was coming their way. According to them, the festival was “built to handle rain, but lightning and wind are what would cause us to need to pause the event. We’ll always make the right decision to ensure our fans’ safety.” Yeah, right.

They had high hopes, though. Festival organizers did delay the start of the fest, saying how they’d “keep a close eye on the situation” and adjust set times as needed, only to ultimately take to their Facebook page for the official cancellation announcement.

“Louder Family, we’re heartbroken to share this, but the weather just isn’t in our favor today. We’ve been working closely with our meteorologists and local authorities, holding on to the hope that we can open doors, but the continuous wind gusts simply make it impossible for us to proceed safely,” reads a statement on the Louder Than Life social media. “We know how disappointing this is — it’s gut-wrenching for us too. But your safety, along with the safety of our artists and crew, will always be our number one priority.

“The support and patience you have showed [sic] us today has been nothing short of incredible. We fully intend to rock out with you tomorrow.”

Passes are supposed to be final without any refunds or exchanges, but Friday single-day pass holders will still be able to attend the rest of the weekend’s festivities as long as they still have their wristbands.

The rest of the weekend promises sets from Disturbed, Mastodon, Chevelle, Mötley Crüe, and Dropkick Murphys on Saturday, and Korn, Judas Priest, and Breaking Benjamin on Sunday.

Hopefully, that hussy Helene will leave us alone for the rest of the weekend.
