Sh*t That Comes Out Today: September 27, 2024
This is a pretty somber, yet exciting weekly release post. While it’s awesome to think of all the new tunes we’re getting, it’s hard not to envision a world where we didn’t lose the great Trevor Strnad. The Black Dahlia Murder just put out their first album since his passing and it’s a bittersweet reality. The guys absolutely kill it, but it’s hard not to imagine what could have been. Either way, you should check that and the other releases out today, because the music will never die.
Bewitcher
Spell Shock (Century Media)
Back with their fourth full-length album, black/speed metal band Bewitcher bring 10 new tracks to the fore with Spell Shock. If you’re looking for something to throw the horns and yell “hell yeah” while adding a little black metal to your musical intake, this album’s a great place to start.
Heriot
Devoured By The Mouth Of Hell (Century Media)
British metalcore act Heriot have graduated to release their first full-length effort with Devoured by the Mouth of Hell and damn it if it’s not heavy as hell. They may not have been around as a cohesive unit for super long compared to their contemporaries, but damn it if they don’t fucking bring it.
Ripped to Shreds
Sanshi (Relapse Records)
What happens when you take brutal as fuck death metal and grind, slam them into each other, and mix in a little Chinese folklore brutality? You get Ripped to Shreds and their latest album Sanshi. We’ve covered these guys a lot lately and I can safely say they will rip your face off if you’re not careful. Songs like “Force Fed” and “Perverting the Funeral Rites, Stripped for the Dead” are brutal as fuck.
Rolo Tomassi
Live At The Electric Ballroom (MNRK Heavy)
I normally don’t feature live albums in these rundowns, but prog metal band Rolo Tomassi are worth the exception. Recorded at the Electric Ballroom in London, the production and overall sound quality are excellent, making this a great listen when you’re looking to lose yourself in their melodic passages one moment and want to get your ass kicked in the next.
The Black Dahlia Murder
Servitude (Metal Blade Records)
Here it is. The album I know many people have been waiting for — the first album from The Black Dahlia Murder after Trevor’s death. We ran a review on this one earlier this week and needless to say, we enjoyed the shit out of this. If you listen to nothing else this week, it absolutely must be this one.
