Blood Incantation Release 20 Minute Short Film, Along with Side A of Absolute Elsewhere

0

With just a week remaining before the release of Blood Incantation‘s forthcoming album Absolute Elsewhere, the Colorado-based death metal act decided to get a little artsy with shit by releasing a 20-minute short film titled The Stargate. And while it all starts out with your typical medieval fare complete with knights, witches, vagrants, and sword fighting, let’s just say things move on from there into a much more… sci-fi setting.

Directed by award winning cinematographer Michael Ragen, whose previous work includes Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: The Viewing, the short film’s admittedly pretty engrossing. I found myself watching closely while trying to write this very article. Another key thing to mention about the short film is the insanely eye-catching fluid effects by Chris Parks. Shit’s spellbinding.

But the short film’s not everything. The band also dropped the entire Side A of Absolute Elsewhere, meaning you can now listen to half of the album at your own discretion. With the album hovering at around 45 minutes, that means you’re getting the entirety of the album’s first movement, “The Stargate”. Speaking of the album and the music you’re all now getting for free, Paul Reidl explained just what Absolute Elsewhere is all about.

‘Absolute Elsewhere’ is our most potent audial extract/musical trip yet; like the soundtrack to a Herzog-style Sci-Fi epic about the history of/battle for human consciousness itself, via a 70s Prog album played by a 90s Death Metal band from the future.”

You can check out the short film The Stargate below. If you’d rather listen to the album’s first movement, you can do so through your favorite digital streaming platform.

Absolute Elsewhere will be released on October 4 via Century Media, but you can still preorder and pre-save your copy today. The band also have some live shows coming up, so be sure to check out the list of dates below.
