Ex-Butcher Babies Vocalist Carla Harvey Starts New Project
Carla Harvey, the adored former vocalist and co-founder of the groove metal band Butcher Babies, has announced that she’s starting her new project called The Violent Hour.
She shared the news on social media, of course, expressing how excited she is for its beginning. It appears that some of the initial recording sessions for The Violent Hour were done with producer Jay Ruston, who’s got quite a few names under his belt when it comes to who he’s worked with before. Those names include bands like Anthrax, Uriah Heep, and Steel Panther, so her new project will walk in the presence of greatness.
“It’s coming. I’ve put my heart and soul into my new project THE VIOLENT HOUR over the last 6 months. I can’t wait for you to hear it. Keep your eyes peeled for updates. This is a slower process than I’d like…but…I’m pumped!”
News of Harvey’s split from Butcher Babies barely came other than light in July, with an official band statement appreciating all she’s contributed over the years for the band. She addressed the split in a post separate from that of the band, also praising and expressing pride in her work and contributions she’s given to Butcher Babies since 2010 when she founded the band with vocalist Heidi Shepherd. Now that Harvey’s gone, Shepherd has picked up the vocal weight in fronting the band by herself.
“Carla has been an integral part of our journey, bringing her unique talent, passion, and energy to the band,” and wishing “her all the best in her future endeavors.”
We’re excited to see exactly what Harvey does with The Violent Hour. However it might sound, I’m sure we’ll be entertained and at least somewhat impressed with the band’s output.
