Gojira’s Olympic Performance Was Projected onto One of France’s Biggest Monuments

Over the summer, metal took center stage during the opening ceremonies of the summer Olympics in Paris. French metal band Gojira were featured in the festivities in what has to be one of the coolest/most badass displays of national pride and decapitated aristocrats at the same time.

To say all of that was a big deal would be an understatement. It was such a big deal, that the performance of “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira)” was projected onto the iconic Arc De Triomphe. The presentation was part of Paris’ celebration of a successfully hosted Olympics games in the major European city.

Having made history by being the first metal band to participate in an Olympic proceeding the way they did, Gojira’s been gaining steam as of late. Their Spotify streaming numbers have gone up at the very least and they’re currently out on tour with Korn and Spiritbox.
