Tony Hawk Teases Possible New ‘Pro Skater’ Game

0

If you’re like most people out there, you probably have Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games somewhere in the origin story of your good music taste. I know I do. And just like how downhill our lives went when Warped Tour went away (I don’t think we’ll ever accept a Live Nation-thrown, expensive ass version of the festival no matter what anyone says), not having a new Pro Skater in years did the same thing. But the lord’s greatest skater Tony Hawk may be giving us the greatest gift of the year—the prospect of a new installment of the game in collaboration with Call of Duty creators Activision.

Hawk recently stuffed his face on the YouTube show Last Meals, a show on the Mythical Kitchen channel. Amid the smorgasbord of pork, spaghetti, tacos, barbecue, cake, and a bunch of other shit, Hawk tried to share as little as he could about the game, admitting that was the first time he mentioned it openly. Watch the interview below.

“I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I’ve been talking to Activision again,” Hawk shared excitedly, speaking the same way of the conversation itself. “Insanely excited,” to be specific.

“We’re working on something… That’s the first time I’ve said that publicly.”

The last new Pro Skater came out in 2015 and Activision released a remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 in 2020 so they could be played on newer consoles. Activision was responsible for the game when it launched in the ’90s, as well as all the sequels and spinoffs in the franchise, so it makes sense they’d keep the collab going. Hawk and Activision were also allegedly working on remastered versions Pro Skater 3 and 4, but it all was put on hold once Activision joined Blizzard Entertainment

“It still exceeds my expectations,” Hawk said about his video games. “That game is the reason people still know my name.”
