Mastodon and Lamb of God to Continue Their Bromance by Releasing Collab Single “Floods of Triton” Tomorrow
Last week, metal titans Mastodon and Lamb of God began teasing something special after their massive co-headlining tour celebrating the 20th anniversaries of two of their biggest albums Leviathan and Ashes of the Wake came to a close. These guys had spent a large portion of the summer together, so it made sense at the time that they’d probably want to continue their collaboration. They announced as such in social media posts that warned fans “a flood is coming… and most of you will die.”
Fast forward to this morning and not only do we know what they were planning, but it’s very likely going to be badass as hell. At midnight tonight/tomorrow morning, the two bands will release a new single together, titled “Floods Of Triton.” We don’t know much about the track other than the fact that the two bands are featured on it, but knowing what they’re capable of makes me think Mastodon and Lamb of God are about to unleash something incredibly badass.
It’s great to see these two bands continue to work together. They may have already been inextricably linked by history, having released two of their biggest albums on the same date 20 years ago, but now they’ll have yet another thread that binds the two together with this upcoming song.
Who knows? Maybe in another 20 years they’ll hit the road together again to celebrate this track, too. I know I’ll happily throw my shriveled husk into the pit, walker in hand.
