Pelican Added to Heavy Chicago II Lineup
It’s been about a month since the succinctly named Heavy Chicago II festival announced most of its lineup, with Bonegripper, Earth Crisis, and Cynic announced as headliners. So there will be stoner metal one day, and probably the biggest straight-edge metalcore band of all time the second day. This festival seems a little confused, but consistency is a sign of a boring mind anyway. However, they left two TBA slots open on their initial lineup announcement in August, leaving a little bit of a mystery in the following months. Well, yesterday, they announced the first TBA spot and it’s none other than Chiacago-based doom post-metal band Pelican. Day 1 is going to be stoner rock heavy and my stoner ass is glad to hear it.
Pelican is slotted to play the first day of the festival on November 1. As we recently reported, Pelican just finished tracking their seventh album, so the band might be playing some unreleased tracks, which is always the perfect time in any band’s set to take a bathroom break because who the fuck cares about unreleased tracks? I go to concerts to jam out to songs I already know. Unreleased tracks are a snooze.
There’s still a second TBA slot that will be announced in October. Until then, tickets are on sale here, and you can check out the full list of bands that have been announced so far below:
