Black Label Society’s “The Gallows” Has the Riffs and Swagger You’d Expect

New Jersey native and pinch harmonic aficionado Zakk Wylde and his band Black Label Society are back on their bullshit after three years away with the release of their newest single “The Gallows.” Featuring the kind of guitar-driven hard rock/metal you’d come to expect from the group, it’s a balls-to-the-wall affair that to my ear sounds like they’re tapping a little bit of Sonic Brew along the way.

Released earlier this morning and available on all popular music streaming platforms, “The Gallows” is admittedly a fun listen. Comprised of Wylde at the fore, JD DeServio on bass, Dario Lorina on guitar, and Jeff Fabb on drums, this current iteration of BLS sounds pretty damn good. Though that really shouldn’t surprise anyone, since I doubt Wylde has time to suffer performers that can’t match his energy, given how busy he’s been lately with Pantera.

“The Gallows” was released as a standalone single, but it should surprise no one that BLS has been working on a so far unnamed and unannounced new album. With this being the first glimpse into that upcoming release, I wouldn’t be shocked if we heard more in the near future.

While we wait for more details, definitely check out the track below. It’s pretty damn good, even if it’s devoid of Wylde’s signature pinch harmonics…
