The Dillinger Escape Plan Reunion Show is Coming to Philly with Pissed Jeans, The Red Chord, and More
Their initial run of summer reunion dates may be behind us, but the dudes in the newly reunited classic O.G. version of The Dillinger Escape Plan haven’t quite gotten off the nostalgia train just yet. Just days before we all cut into the Thanksgiving turkey, The Dillinger Escape Plan will be demolishing Philly’s Franklin Music Hall and they’re bringing a sick lineup of supporting acts along with ’em.
Set for November 23, the show will once again feature The Dillinger Escape Plan performing the entirety of Calculating Infinity. That iconic album is celebrating its 25th anniversary, so it makes sense that the guys want to celebrate the band’s origins. It also helps that The Dillinger Escape Plan just fucking rocks.
In a social media post announcing the extra show, the band said they were stoked to head to the City of Brotherly Love with openers Pissed Jeans, The Red Chord, Hirs, and Rid Of Me.
“Exciting News! We’re thrilled to announce that The Dillinger Escape Plan will be bringing one of our 25th anniversary Calculating Infinity shows in Liam’s home city, Philadelphia. Philly, in general, has always been sort of a hometown for us and was always a high point of any tour.”
Today’s announcement is particularly exciting, since guitarist and TDEP mastermind Ben Weinman told the hosts of the Vulgar Display of Podcast that while he doesn’t want to make this one big nostalgia tour, he admitted that there’s a possibility that there could be some new/previously unreleased material in the future.
“I do not want to tour with this band. I’ve said it time and time again. These are events. I want these to be special events. I want Dillinger fans to be able to go somewhere together, maybe fly there, maybe drive there, maybe just talk about it, and hang out and spend time together doing something that’s like-minded and important to them, and enjoy the whole experience.
“I don’t want it to be like ‘yeah, I’ll go. They’re coming around. I’ll get them when I get them.’ The point is to do – for us and for fans – to be able to do some of these limited kind of event-type things where this is a special thing. I really don’t want to tour with it.
“There is no plans to do music or anything like that. It really is a celebration of Calculating Infinity and some of the earlier stuff we did before that. I am very satisfied with how we ended in 2017. I think we did it right. I was really proud of that and really left with no regrets… but there is some hidden unreleased stuff laying around in hard drive and there’s some talks about maybe you know, cleaning it up a little bit and putting it out. But as far as really creating new music, that’s not really on the agenda.”
