Poison the Well Working on First Album in 15 Years

0

It’s been 15 years since Florida metalcore act Poison the Well released their last album The Tropic Rot and, when the band took a hiatus in 2010, there was good reason to believe that it would be their final album. But you’ll remember that the now-active band put out a box set earlier this month that featured color vinyl pressings of their entire discography, and apparently that collection came with a little love note of sorts to the fans. But rather than ending their love note with a “Do you like me, check one” they finished it with an exciting announcement.

The PRP posted the full note for those who couldn’t afford to drop $200 on the box set, and it reveals that Poison the Well are back in the studio with a new record to come. The note reads as follows:

“Hey,

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has ever contributed to the history of Poison The Well. Your unwavering support over the years means the world to us. Special thanks to those who helped contribute to this release. While it’s impossible to name every single person, please know that we hold dear every bit of support with heartfelt appreciation. Without you, there would be no Poison The Well.

“Your Friends

PTW

“Thank you for helping celebrate our entire discography. Think of it as a little something to tide you over as we work on our first new studio album in over 15 years. We can’t wait to share that with you.”

No more details have been forthcoming, so who knows when this record will drop, but it’s an exciting development nonetheless.

In the meantime, Poison the Well are playing a small handful of festival dates this year, so here’s where you can catch them:

Sept 20-22 – Chicago, IL @ Riot Fest
Sept 21 – Des Moines, IA @ Knotfest Iowa
Oct 4 – Birmingham, AL @ Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark
Oct 5 – Princeton, AL @ Furnace Fest
Oct 28-Nov 1 – Miami, FL @ Headbanger’s Boat
