Cancer Christ Frontman Arrested in His Underwear After “Terrorizing Trek” Through National Park Area

Frontman of thrash metal/punk band Cancer Christ, Anthony Mehlhaff, faces a laundry list of criminal charges after going on a rampage through the area in and around Yosemite National Park in California.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the series of events is as follows: he allegedly assaulted an employee at a local restaurant, led the police on a car chase, he crashed the car, stole a bicycle, threatened workers at a nearby lodge with a knife, stripped to his underwear, tried to kidnap a store manager, then stole that manager’s car and started ramming it into another car on the road, before crashed that car and getting apprehended. Say what you will, but this dude gets a lot done in a day.

Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured in the bizarre series of events.

Mehlhaff, known in the band as “Saint Anthony,” has made a career out of mocking religion. The self-proclaimed originator of the Church of Cancer Christ, Mehlhaff told New Noise Magazine about his effort.

“When you get baptized in the blood of Jesus at the Church of Cancer Christ, you’re fucking saved. You can continue to go on and be a garbage person. But we’re hoping through this process that you learned that love is the way, and you’ll change your ways, and that’s why we say if you’re baptized in any other church, you might as well have been baptized in shit because it’s pretty worthless.”

But now it seems that the line between satire and reality has blurred for Mehlhaff, as the whole escapade was said to have allegedly started when Mehlhaff approached a pregnant waitress, touched her stomach and told her: “The spirits led me to you and your baby belongs to me.”

We certainly hope that Mehlhaff gets whatever support he needs to help him with whatever triggered this episode.
