Korn Launches Fan Art Contest to Celebrate 30th Anniversary

0

Remember back in 1999 when Korn had an art contest to pick the album cover of their fourth record Issues and, for a time, the album came out in four variant covers that you could buy. My crudely drawn sketch of a cat driving a jeep didn’t get picked as one of the album covers and I’m still bitter to this day. But I still went out and bought one of the variant covers because I wanted to be special. Then I broke my CD in about a week because those things were made out of cheap plastic.  Well, the band is doing it again with another fan art contest.

Korn launched another fan art contest and, this time, the art is supposed to celebrate 30 years of Korn’s legacy and will be featured on their upcoming North American tour. You know what, I’ll just let Korn explain it for you with what they had to say on Instagram:

“Our fans are so important to us, and we are thrilled to announce our KoRn Fan Art contest. Show us your interpretation of 30 years of our music, art, energy, message and meaning in visual form. You can draw inspiration from a lyric, album, show memory, video, or anything KoRn that is meaningful to you.
The Grand Prize winners, hand-selected by us, will have their artwork featured in the VIP experience and throughout the concourse area at all shows on our North American tour, their art signed by us, and receive two VIP tickets to a KoRn concert of their choice. We can’t wait to see your submissions.”

I don’t know if this is as cool as getting your art on a variant cover of the band’s album, but it’s still a pretty cool context. The contest runs through September 5, so break out your colored pencil set and give Korn your best drawing of a cat playing a seven-string guitar while wearing Adidas. Ooh, that’s good, I’m going to submit that.

Meanwhile, you can find the full list of dates for that upcoming North American tour with Gojira and Spiritbox below.
